Summer flowers - iris time

For those who have been intriqued by the Himalayan poppy, Mecanopsis grandis, there's a long article here:

https://journals.rbge.org.uk/index.php/rbgesib/article/download/138/128 - it's a technical, botanical paper, but there is an interesting story about "Betty's dream poppy" on pages 86 and 87. :-)

Iris's are lovely, Elizabeth grew some in our front porch.
Tom Wilson: They are indeed - but don't seem to do very well in our soil.
Iris' are always a joy - hardy and happy! This is a lovely shot!
Tom Wilson: As I said to Frank - they seem not to like our soil.

I think these are quite adorable Tom
Tom Wilson: They made a lovely show in the Gardens.
They are splendid. If I get time later I will try to have a look at the article
Tom Wilson: The story I referred to is quite an amusing one.

Your botanical knowledge is admirable Tom, a subject that I now extremely little about.
Tom Wilson: Little botanical knowledge, Chad - but excellent search capabilities smile
Another fine looking flower.
Tom Wilson: I love irises, but unfortunately our soil doesn't seem to suit them.
