photoblog image Patrick, Lord Lichfield and his labrador, Drum

Patrick, Lord Lichfield and his labrador, Drum

Presumably a self-portrait - I had to take this side-on because of the local lighting.

There was a small exhibition of Lichfield's work - he certainly knew how to take portraits, especially of beautiful women.

Magnifiques portraits qui représentent bien la complicité entre l'homme et le chien.
Tom Wilson: Oui, vraiment!

Beautiful women are easy [to take pictures of], Tom.

The bloke has a lovely head of hair.
Tom Wilson: Mmm - easy to take pictures of, yes, but really GOOD pictures??
He certainly was good at portraits Tom!
Tom Wilson: He had a lot of practice! Got his first camera when he was eight.
At first I thought it was you, Tom, because of his beautiful hair!
Tom Wilson: He, he! He had more money, better looks and greater photographic talent, Ginnie!

A pleasure to see this, Tom
Tom Wilson: I thought it was a fine double portrait.

Oh, a beautiful gentleman, the dog can compete with him. Sorry, I had the same suggestion like Ginnie!
Tom Wilson: Certainly a handsome man and a handsome dog smile

He was certainly a master of the genre Tom
Tom Wilson: I got a bargain copy of "Lichfield: a retrospect" (one penny plus postage) and find that he could also do pretty good landscapes smile
He did indeed Tom
Tom Wilson: There were some fine examples on display, weren't there?

Bill knows how to take portraits of beautiful women, too, look at his image today!
Tom Wilson: Handsome fellas too smile
I thought it was you too for a moment when I read self portrait. I am amused at the shot. He is happy to be with his dog.
Tom Wilson: No, no - much more handsome smile Although I grant you that the hairstyle is similar - on a good hair day smile
They had what I felt was an excellent set of Lichfield's images on display, and were a different set to those we saw there a couple of years ago.
Tom Wilson: Nice to be able to rotate them. Perhaps when the NT finally takes over they'll have a bigger exhibition room for his work.

Stunning.

Of course anything with a black Labrador in it wins my heart, Tom.
Tom Wilson: Nothing at all to do with the handsome man, then, Pauline? smile He certainly won a good many hearts!
A fine double profile...
Tom Wilson: It is, isn't it - I suspect that one was superimposed on the other smile
You captured this well, Tom. I liked him, he seemed a nice guy, and a very good photographer.
