Shugborough Hall - Dining Room Ceiling

Another disadvantage of the fish-eye is that straight lines become curves: if we are charitable, we can see that as an interesting decorative effect :-)

I don't have a problem with curves, Tom...in many circumstances they are real eye-grabbers.
Tom Wilson: It's amazing how much this lens takes in!
This was really beautiful, and I like your decorative image! smile
Tom Wilson: Glad you like it, Elizabeth.
I quite like the curve effect Tom!
Tom Wilson: Me too, Richard.

Well if there is no other way of capturing the whole thing in one image Tom..
Tom Wilson: Exactly - I think that otherwise one would have to clear the dining table, lie on it and take a pic - not sure the NT would allow that smile
I am amused at the distorting affect of you fishy lens Tom.
Tom Wilson: Makes a nice pic, though smile
I think the curves make it, Tom.What an amazing ceiling, I baulk at splashing emulsion on one!
Tom Wilson: Really beautiful, isn't it? Of course, what it really needs is a false plasterboard ceiling to lower the room height, then you could splash emulsion to your heart's content smile
I absolutely love this ceiling done in the style of Wedgewood Blue. The fisheye works a treat.
Tom Wilson: It certainly is a beautiful ceiling!
Still a fine ceiling though Tom.
Tom Wilson: It is indeed, Brian.

It is an interesting decorative effect, Tom.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Pauline.
That is whole point of fish eye isn't it?
Tom Wilson: Precisely, Bill.
I took same with a boring standard zoom , nothing like the drama of yours.
Tom Wilson: It does make a difference doesn't it? You can pick one up fairly cheaply, 2nd hand, on Ebay.

"Interesting decorative effect" describes it nicely. Well done for looking up; I didn't sad
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Alan - yes, it's a good motto smile
