Fieldfare

There were a number of these on the grass in front of Kungliga Biblioteket in Stockholm - very tame, not at all bothered by the humans. They spend the winter in the UK, but head north again between March and May and are then commonly seen in Sweden.

Interesting, isn't it Tom, how migratory birds can adopt different personalities in different temporary homes.
Tom Wilson: Perhaps they feel safer in Sweden smile

Very interesting Tom, I've always found in the UK they are very wary of humans
Tom Wilson: As I said to Ray, they probably feel safer in Sweden smile

You did a great job by catching this bird in time...he keeps an eye on you though.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Astrid - got to watch out for cats and other predators!
What Ray said. I have noticed that too how normally fearful birds can become so tame in different places. Usually food is involved.
Tom Wilson: There seemed to be enough to go round on the grass of the park.
A handsome chap. Perhaps the Swedes are more trustworthy than us Brits
Tom Wilson: That's probably it, Bill - previous generations have learned their lesson - they were probably food items in the distant past in the British winter, whereas no one would think of eating them in Sweden in the summer smile
