I really like the addition of the blue ceramic tiles
Tom Wilson: They use 'em all over the place in Portugal.

Not a style of exterior decoration I am used to. The blue/white tiles go exceptionally well with the sandstone walls.
The tile work is even more impressive in this location outdoors.
Tom Wilson: It's not unusual for churches in Porto.

This is amazing and I look at the links you put in some replies. What a work, what an art...
So the beautiful tile work is on the outside as well as the inside.
Tom Wilson: I'm not sure about inside, Brian - some churches do have them, others don't. I think I posted this one before we made contact: http://tomwilson.shutterchance.com/image/2011/04/17/sao-lourenco-church--almancil/ and this http://tomwilson.shutterchance.com/photoblog/423617.htm
Fine blue decoration, so effective
Tom Wilson: The churches in Porto are full of it!
They like their tiles in Portugal don't they?
Tom Wilson: They do indeed, Bill - the Moorish influence, I believe.

This is quite beautiful, Tom...the Portugese seem to like ceramic tiles on their exterior walls.
