Heidelberg Press

A big success with small jobbing printers, the Heidelberg was a robust machine, developed in the 1920s and in operation for decades after. It could print up to A3 format at a rate of 4,000 pages an hour. The company still exists, producing a wide range of machines.

En route back from Sweden today.

Very cool!
Safe travels...
Très joli matériel.
Great details Tom!
Have a safe trip back home.
I suppose you could make a comparison to computers, Tom...how they used to be the size of an entire room and now can fit in the palm of your hand. Not quite the same, of course, but you get the point. [BTW, when I was at university in the 60s, we had to go to "said room" on campus with our computer punch cards!]

Quite a machine. I remember visiting their factory in Walldorf (near Heidelberg) in 1998. You may have seen what they build now - it is amazing. Such a machine even orders the correct paper for the printing job from a JIT supplier and it will get delivered right into supply box of the machine. They the set up the job almost by themselves. That was then and now people in technology start to rave about robots.
