Batalha - nave of the monastery church

Mosteiro de Batalha is literally, the Monastery of the Battle - officially the Mosteiro de Santa Maria da Vitória, it was built in 1385, to commemorate the nearby Battle of Aljubarrota, which was between Portugal and the Kingdom of Castile.  Portugal won the battle decisively, putting an end to Castile's desire for the throne of Portugal.

Rather difficult lighting, since the interior was quite dark.

The style of the architecture makes this building look so tall Tom
Tom Wilson: It does indeed + and very restrained for a catholic church of the era.

They made sure the boys can't spit paper balls against the ceiling. Magnificent interior for the height.
Tom Wilson: They'd find it difficult!
Wow, this church doth certainly soar Tom. It must be impressive to sit on a pew and contemplate how small you are.
Tom Wilson: Indeed it must, Chad.
This is a seriously impressive sight Tom
Tom Wilson: Probably designed for that express purpose, Bill

Those tall columns give a forest air, Tom
Tom Wilson: The do, don't they?
That is incredibly tall.
Tom Wilson: The narrow aisle accentuates that, too.
What an exceptionally tall building.
Tom Wilson: Yes, externally, the place looks quite squat, but it is rather misleading!
Lovely slender forms...
Tom Wilson: It does give that impression, doesn't it?
