Adam and Eve are wonderful, Tom.
Tom Wilson: An altogether wonderful book - even if A&E are in the altogether smile
Fascinating stuff, isn't it!
Tom Wilson: It's good to be able to go to a museum and bring these back, so that one can really examine them closely - fortunately the Gulbenkian allows photography.

You show us some wonderful treasures, Tom. Thank you
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Lisl - not as good as being there, but at least you get the flavour smile

Adam & Eve from the look of them, great stuff Tom
Tom Wilson: Indeed - with the bearded gent in robes being God, one assumes. However, if A&E had to adopt clothes when they shed their innocence, why isn't God naked?

Old books - a treasure. I once found myself in a seminary library - they had to chase me out at closing time.
Tom Wilson: They are indeed, Louis - a work of art on every page in some cases.
So beautiful Tom, at first I wondered if it was an illustrated Koran...
Tom Wilson: Wrong script for the Koran, but I see how one could make the mistake!
Are Adam and Eve asking for the toilet to be invented?
Tom Wilson: I suspect you may be right there, Bill smile

A beautiful manuscript- the creation of the cosmos and especially of Adam and Eve and what then followed. Gulbenkian is an Armen-ian, too, as his name signalises.
Tom Wilson: Yes, Gulbenkian did a great deal of charitable giving for Armenian communities around the world.
I saw many ancient books during a tour of them in museums a few years ago.

Solstice is happeining at this moment!
Tom Wilson: Yes indeed, shortest day of the year today, the sun was barely up by 8.20 this morning and goes down again at 15:49. However, in Luleå, Northern Sweden, which is the furthest north I've ever been it rose at 9:56 and sets at 13:04 and will be so low on the horizon that it will be virtually twilight for those few hours!
The skill of the people who made these books are beyond comprehension.
Tom Wilson: The scribes had amazing skill.
Fantastic artwork...
