photoblog image Yucca

Yucca

This Yucca has been in a pot in the garden for some years, perhaps five, and 2016 was the year in which it decided to flower.  This, incidentally, is not a B&W conversion, but as shot, in colour.  You can just see hints of colour here and there.

These are wonderful flowers. Great shot. love the sun/shadows and the touch of colour.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Astrid - they are quite an "architectural" plant!

A real treat for you then Tom. This might be one of those plant types that blooms every decade, exhausted by its last flowering
Tom Wilson: Rather just slow to mature, I think - it will probably continue to bloom annually - I hope!
I have not heard of this plant Tom, I assume it is rare or exotic here in England.
Tom Wilson: It's an import, certainly, but I think you'll find it in most garden centres. It's the same family as the agave from which tequila is made.
When they flower they stand out well, the lighting on this is good.
The colour is quite unusual, with the bloom and the leaves the same. Exquisite!

I am fond of things in pots that startle you by flowering, Tom.
We had one of these in the front garden for several years but is got a bit out of hand so we got rid of it, but it took some digging out!
Well worth the wait tom
Light is superb on this yucca. Excellent !
