Badger.jpg

A night shot from 2009, when badgers were visiting the garden - haven't seen them for some time now. This one is enjoying peanut butter on bread - put down for them by my neighbour :-)

Handsome, aren't they!
Tom Wilson: Quite good looking animals - but difficult to get a look at!
What a fun shot!
Tom Wilson: We stayed up after midnight on several nights before they came by - this was a flash shot at about 1 in the morning!

Nicely taken Tom!
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Chris - not an easy one to get!
Hmmmm. Peanut butter...the go-to food for anyone and everyone?!
Tom Wilson: Well, the badger liked it - but it's not for me! I dislike the stuff.
Jolie rencontre !
Tom Wilson: Merci, Martine.

This is a great shot of the badger. I know that rats also like peanut butter.... (you can use it in the rat-traps).
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Astrid - I'll have to remember that about rats!
They are handsome animals
Tom Wilson: They are indeed - but I think their nearby sett in a local school was disturbed and I no longer see them.
They are quite timid Tom.
Tom Wilson: They are indeed, Chad - we were up after midnight and I was surprised that this one was not frightened away by the flash.

Nice catch, both you and the badger.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Louis.
I have never seen a badger. It is skunk like according to the head shape.
Tom Wilson: Somewhat similar, but a different family - and bigger - can weigh up to 35lbs. The American badger is also smaller, weighing about 10lbs less
I've never seen a live Badger although there have been a few roadkill ones round our way recently, sadly!
Tom Wilson: They're nocturnal, so you have to stay up pretty late if they are in your area - as they probably are! Or you have to know where there'a a sett that you can visit.
belle prise!! amitiés
Tom Wilson: Merci, Jean Pierre
Good fun to see, Tom. I almost bumped into one once on a path in the Lakes, we looked at each other, he grunted, turned around and left.
Tom Wilson: That's a fairly typical reaction from them when confronted by a human smile Even if he IS a photographer smile
