photoblog image Pear Blossom

Pear Blossom

Lots of blossom on the pear tree this year, but I suspect that the late cold spell with have deprived us of any pears!  Like the cherry blossom shot a while back, this was shot with the nice 60mm macro lens on the X-E2s.

The video has nothing to do with the picture.  Chris discovered a kora player in Bath a little while back. Here's a performance by Toumani Diabaté, probably the finest virtuoso of the instrument.

Très jolies fleurs qui promettent beaucoup de fruits.
Tom Wilson: Je pense que la gelée a tué une grande partie de la fleur. Il semble y avoir seulement quelques fruits en développement.

Reminds me that pear blossom is lovely, Tom!
Tom Wilson: It is indeed - and a mass of it this year.
I think the music beautifully accompanies the delicate pear blossoms!
Tom Wilson: Diabate is certainly a master of the instrument - the family claims 70 generations of kora players.

It has been a wonderful year for fruit blossom Tom, but let us see whether anything eventually comes of it..

The music on your video is sublime and surprising!
Tom Wilson: A few pears are showing, but nowhere near the number suggested by the blossom!
Great music and an accomplished musician.
Tom Wilson: He certainly is!

Promesse de fruits.
Tom Wilson: But hit by the frost and so there seem to be only a few fruit showing!
Beautiful bouquet of blossoms
Tom Wilson: It is,isn't it?
Lovely blossom and delightful music to go with it.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Brian - that Diabate fellow is a master!
Nice blossom and a fascinating video. The sound is a bit like a harp crossed with a lute
Tom Wilson: Fascinating isn't it - and the instrument is played in Mali only by members of what are called griot families - generations of them !
