Heading up the Hill of Three Crosses

Actually, I was heading down this steep stairway, having climbed up by the main road, which was a little less steep.  I don't know how high the hill is, but it is quite a climb by either route!

At least they've got some steps for you!
Tom Wilson: I found that just as useful going down!

Cet escalier a l'air bien raide.
Tom Wilson: C'était certainement très raide! J'étais content de descendre au lieu de monter!

Good exercise Tom..
Tom Wilson: I think I got in more than my 10,000 steps that day, Chris!

I feel tired just looking at this Tom.
Tom Wilson: Even walking up the easy way was quite a haul, Chad - I was happy to be going down this lot!

That would get the heart beating, Tom
Tom Wilson: I think I would have had to stop for a rest more than once!
You are clearly fit Tom!
Tom Wilson: Reasonably so, Bill - but this hike was testing!

A hill to separate the auld ones from the young ones. Glad to read there is a main road going up - should be good enough for a rental smile
Tom Wilson: Indeed - going up by car is the easiest way, although the road stops some distance from the top.

The Three Crosses seem to be a pilgrimage place. Some sins might be forgiven after you climbed up the hill.
Tom Wilson: I think the pilgrim ought to be taken straight off to heaven after this climb, Philine!
A good climb then, Tom.
Tom Wilson: By either route, Frank.

We have a similar stairway going up St catherine's Hill, Winchester. I think its easier (or rather less hard) just to make your way up or down the slope and not uses the stairs. Good choice in which case for using the road.
Tom Wilson: This is a very steep hill, and I suspect that without the stairs it would be very hard going - and, as you can see, there's been quite a bit of erosion from people walking at the side.
