Owl

An illustration by Edward Lear from John Gould's, The Birds of Europe, vol. 1, 1837.

In addition to inventing the limerick, Lear was a very fine artist.

Gould's illustrations were one of the things that gave me a life-long fascination with Natural History, Tom.
It's a beautiful bird for sure!
Is it just me - or is the photo blurred?

I would say he seems better as an artist than as a Limerick writer Tom
There once was a very fine owl
who was out one night on the prowl
he dived for a mouse
but flew into the house
and staggered off home with a scowl
