Boras - Street Art 14

"Creative duo; Telmo Pieper and Miel Krutzmann worked on their creative abilities from a young age. They met at the art academy in 2006. Miel (31) painted walls for several years with spray paint, and showed Telmo (26) the possibilities in graffiti and street art. Since that time they work together seem less, as they both enjoy working in realistic styles."  The are based in Rotterdam.

This is a scene from the story The wonderful adventurs of Nils, by Selma Lagerlöf, the first female writer to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature.  Nils has been shrunken in size to ride throughout Sweden on the back of a goose (which here is more like a swan!), which is here being attacked by a fox.

Seriously good art!
Tom Wilson: A stunning piece of work.
Dramatic and shocking (in a good way).
Tom Wilson: It is isn't it?
It's an amazing mural... but it makes me a little sad...
Tom Wilson: Swan and Nils survived, so all is well smile

Each time you show these murals they become better and better.
These two are good, this is the website of Telmo.

I did some more research on them both, very impressive. Thank you, Tom, this is a delight.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Astrid - I think this festival probably does more for art appreciation in the city than anything else!

They are real artists- their surnames sound German. Oh, I loved as child the book of Nils Holgerson! It is a geography book in Sweden.
Tom Wilson: Born in Rotterdam, I believe, Philine. We didn't know of NIls in the UK.

It seems sad that such wonderful original work will be at the mercy of the elements
Tom Wilson: Apparently, the paint is guaranteed to last for 30 years, so perhaps it will stand up to the weather.

This is very impressive Tom
Tom Wilson: Does a lot for civic pride, too, I think, Chris.

Thank you for showing these murals Tom, they really are wonderful and uplifting.
Tom Wilson: My pleasure, Chad - I was fortunate this year to be around while some of them were still being worked on.

Selma Lagerlöf was a very popular author in Germany, I read some of her novels.
Tom Wilson: I think her works are still read in Sweden, too - certainly the adventures of Nils has never been out of print smile
The style of the fox, both realistic and cartoon is most wonderful! Gives me fresh ideas.
Tom Wilson: A stunning piece of work, I thought.
That is a very good one Tom.
Tom Wilson: Superb - and in one of the suburbs, not the city centre.

I hope there is a happy outcome. The detail int eh swan especially is impressive.
Tom Wilson: Yes, they survive and continue their journey. As Philine notes, it is essentially a book about the geography of Sweden smile
Truly amazing art
Tom Wilson: A pity we don’t see more of it here!
i was impressed with your close-up Tom... now i an even more impressed with the entire piece of art... thank for bringing me back a day....petersmile
Tom Wilson: Glad you like it, Peter - these "street" artists do impressive work.
it certainly has added tremendous grace to the side of this building, Tom
Tom Wilson: Yes, it's turned a boring block into an art gallery smile
