photoblog image Sundial

Sundial

Close up of the sundial from the previous image. The Latin suggests that the sun always shines in the heart of Lithuania - which has not always been my experience :-). Looking carefully, I think it is actually a clock.

perhaps not the shining sun, but a sense of humour? smile for the time being, you will have to make do with this smiling sun dial, Tom.
Tom Wilson: Perhaps you are right, Ayush!
smile Well, perhaps in the hearts of Lithuanians!
I like this detail!
Tom Wilson: Could be!

Perhaps this is some sort of metaphor Tom.
Tom Wilson: You could be right!
Great sundial isn't it. I guess you had a set of stepladders to get up this high smile
Tom Wilson: Caused a real commotion! smile Actually, I think it is a clock.
Mind you it hasn't always been my experience in Sheffield Tom grin
Tom Wilson: This is almost oop North, lad - there's some here haven't seen sun since they were born!

I like the phrase "Always the sun may shine in the heart of Lithuania" - I think this wish is meant symbolically. The sun is glittering and smiling.
Tom Wilson: I suspect you are right, Philine - it certainly does not accord with reality smile
joli!! amitiés
Tom Wilson: Merci, Jean Pierre

A clock with only one hand and the way the numbers are set up - well I will have to attend classes to read that clock. Thanks for zooming in, it looks bright.
Tom Wilson: Yes, I'm sure it's a clock, because that is a "hand" not a sundial gnomon.
I see it's of recent vintage...
