Sheffield building

The style suggests to me that this is from the 1920s or 30s, but I have no information on the buiding in Sheffield city centre.

Thanks to Philine, we now know that it is Kemsley House, built for the Sheffield Daily Telegraph newspaper and designed by Sheffield architects, Gibbs, Flockton & Teather.  Built between 1913 and 1916 - so earlier than I thought.  Now known as Telegraph House. The branch of the Santander Bank is due to close shortly, so it will interesting to see who takes it on.  Shops at the ground floor level and flats above - going for about £150,000

It has an elegant clocktower, Tom.
Tom Wilson: Very nice, isn't it?
A fine edifice...

I would suggest the 1920s Tom. Actually it's quite pleasing architecture

It is an unusual style Tom and might not look out of place in a Midwest town in America.
Tom Wilson: Now that you mention it, Chad - yes.
I like the clock tower on top, buildings of that period very often had one of those.
Tom Wilson: Yes, it's a nice feature - there's a clock on each side, too.

You are right, a beautiful building: Kemsley House, By Gibbs, Flockton & Teather, 1913-16
Tom Wilson: Thanks for that, Philine - now known, it seems, as Telegraph House, with the flats going for about £150,000
Sorry to hear my bank branch is closing. Quite a commanding looking building. Well composed to show it off. Friendship
Tom Wilson: I didn't realise they operated in the USA - it's Spanish of course, they took over a number of building societies in the UK that had turned themselves into banks.
Fancy! With a prize on top.
Tom Wilson: Yes, it's quite a distinctive building - lucky to survive the war-time bombing of Sheffield.
all over a nice building, Tom, but i like the bit above the clock the most.
Tom Wilson: Yes, that's a nice little architectural feature smile
