Knossos - North entrance

The North Entrance faces the sea and a road led down to the harbour in Heraklion (remains of the harbour have been found and it is believed that further traces will be found in the modern Heraklion harbour).  Sir Arthur Evans believed that goods from the harbour would be inspected at this point, before entering the Palace.

It must have been an amazing thing when complete and functioning
The ancient civilisations were amazing
Great shot. I like the presence of the restored palace.
