Jefferson Memorial, Washington, D.C.

I'm popping this one in, just to show a recovered slide from 1971.  I've used ON1 to process and it did an absolutely excellent job with what was a badly over-saturated image.  With Lightroom having gone to a subscription basis and not updating its last desktop offering, ON1 is a good alternative.  Like Lightroom, it uses non-destructive editing and if, like me, you still use Lightroom, you can use ON1 as a plug-in.

Do you recover many slides in this way, Tom
Tom Wilson: Yes, I've been going through all my old slides to discover what hasn't been ruined, and I've shown quite a number on SC.

Your process seems to have recovered this slide to perfection Tom
Tom Wilson: I was very pleasantly surprised at what I could recover - it was an old Agfa slide and that film becomes very orange coloured over time.
It has done a good job. I subscribe to Lightroom and Photoshop. about a tenner a month seems good value to me
Tom Wilson: I prefer to have apps on my desktop, Bill - and lots of people seem to be switching because of the subscription policy. And you can still buy Lightroom v.6 for less than a year's subscription smile
A very good recovery Tom. Several of the members of my camera club have given up on Lightroom and gone over to ON1 because of the ongoing cost from Adobe. I still use Lightroom, CS3 and more recently the new Serif Affinity, anyhting Photoshop can do it can as well if not better.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Brian - there's lots of competition out there these days for Adobe - ON1's tutorials and occasional videos on technique are also useful. I'll take a look at Serif Affinity.
Always an iconic view tithe the Cherry Blossoms! You did a great job!
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Elizabeth.

A very fine image, and I admire your technical knowledge to turn a slide into a photo on SC!
Tom Wilson: 0h it doesn't take much skill - one can buy a little device for converting slides to digital jpeg images, then all one has to do is to tweak them in Lightroom or Photoshop or whatever.
