photoblog image Het Loo - Fiat

Het Loo - Fiat

A Fiat 2300S coupé - offered to Princess Beatrix and Prince Claus on the occasion of their marriage, in 1966. It remained in use until 1974, by which time it had 64,000 kilometres on the clock.  Body work by Ghia.  You can pick up one for about £40,000 today.

Very agreeable too Tom. I am a fan of Fiats
Tom Wilson: Never owned one - always thought they were a trifle tinny.
I declare. I wonder if Astrid knows about this?!
Tom Wilson: She's bound to smile

AA-100..... the license plate with AA is only for the Dutch Royal family. The moment this picture came up I knew whom the car belonged too. And yes I knew about this.
I lived close where (then) Princess Beatrix and Prince Clause lived and often saw them driving around.
Tom Wilson: Yes, the information nearby explained about the number - this was the only car on which this number was used and, when travelling incognito Prince Claus would use the car's original number plate smile
Remarkable ...a 1960s Fiat that wasn't a pile of rust after about 3 years
Tom Wilson: Bodywork by Ghia, Bill smile

When you have everything and can buy anything, people offer you cars and the like. I thought they were nice cars at the time.
Tom Wilson: Certainly suitable for royalty - I couldn't have afforded one then, or now!
Actually quite a nice looking car isn't it.
Tom Wilson: Certainly a classic.
