Den Haag-architectural variety

On route to Krakow, Poland, for a conference, today - back next Saturday. Commenting and replying over the next week likely to be haphazard.

Here's a very different style of Portuguese music - based on, or fully representing, Portuguese folk music. The artist is Julio Pereira - a multi-instrumentalist - who, on most of his recordings, plays all of the instruments. The CD from which this track comes is devoted to the cavaquinho - a small, guitar-shaped instrument, which was transported to the other side of the world by Portuguese sailors, was adopted by the Hawaian islanders, and became... the ukelele.

A fine image, Tom...but, it reminds me that all cities are beginning to morph into a single style.

The sheer variety of architecture seems to work very well hereabouts Tom.

Krakow is a joy of a place too, untouched by WW2 because of its garrison status..
Quite a mix of styles here Tom. Have a safe trip.
Looks like an old lane set in a very futuristic landscape.
I recently went to an hour-long ukelele concert, and found it too boring and monotone. This CD sounds nothing like that did, so I am rethinking the ukelele!
The ultimate 'Old and New' picture.
Interesting about the ukulele origins!
Yet somehow it all comes together...
