Krakow-Wieliczka salt mine - 9

St. Kinga's chapel.  One of the biggest chambers, 101 metres below the surface (331 feet), 54 metres long, 15-18 metres wide, and 10-12 metres high.  Decorated with bas reliefs and sculptures by miner-sculptors. The chandeliers are composed of salt crystals.

Nice work, Tom.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Ray - difficult lighting as you can see!
What a fantastic place!

It's amazing to learn this is all underground.

This must be something really special. My favourite iron ore mine has a crystal room a little smaller than this. The walls and roof are just crystals - fantastic when you shine a light on them.
Tom Wilson: A definite item for your next European visit, Louis smile
That would be the ultimate cave experience.

splendid, Tom. i like this view and the chandeliers are interesting. i wonder if the light generates significant heat and how long do the salt crystals last.
