Knossos-Evans

It seems a good idea to begin this (probably extensive) series of images of Knossos with the bust of Sir Arthur Evans, the English archaeologist who unearthed the Minoan "palace" - actually, a city state, one of several subsequently found on the island.  Sir Arthur was not only responsible for the discovery, he also produced some (contentious) reconstructions, which are found around the site, most of which is no more than one or two metres high.  He actually bought the hill on which the palace was found.
