Wyspianski's paintings

The main exhibition at the National Museum in Krakow when I visited was of the work of Stanislaw Wyspianski - one can see the influence of art nouveau (he died aged only 38 in 1907).  Considering his short life, his output was astonishing: he was not only a painter, but also a poet, a playwright, stage designer, furniture designer, and... typographer!

Some quite good stuff there...
Tom Wilson: Amazing output!
A really beautiful sampling, here. What a guy - can you imagine what he'd have done had he lived longer!
Tom Wilson: It would have been interesting to see how he developed as an artist, out of the art nouveau into something else.
Some very nice pieces of art here Tom, I've not heard of him before. He was quite a guy, what a shame he died so young.
Tom Wilson: Yes - very highly regarded in Poland and almost unknown anywhere else!

Some people seem to have everything going for them. Well he appears to, except for longevity..
Tom Wilson: Yes - a pity. He died of syphilis - incurable at the time.

Seems to have been a very busy person; maybe he was worn out by the time he was 38? I'm afraid these paintings don't do much for me sad
Tom Wilson: It was syphilis that got him, Alan.

It looks accomplished work Tom.
Tom Wilson: He specialised to a degree, in stained glass work - I'll show something of it.
There's some fien work there Tom, he seemed to have a thing about tall but narrow paintings.
Tom Wilson: Indeed there is, Brian.
even in the number of frames seen above, it already evident that he has diverse creations, Tom.
Tom Wilson: I think his pastel paintings are among the best.

Oh, I have to confess I don't know this multi-talented artist. I should google about his life and work.
A multitalented man. I read your replies saying how he died. A sad waste
Seems he had a real purpose.
