Another scanned film negative. A square in Pest.  I'd been in Moscow for a meeting - this was before the collapse of communism, some time in the mid-80s - and flying from there to Budapest (for another meeting!) was like moving from a strange land to something approaching normality!  It also resulted in me seeing La Boheme twice in a week - once at the Bolshoi and once at the Budpest Opera House!

This is great, Tom...well worth the effort of the scan and conversion and PP.
I like the musician strumming along back there!

I'm interested to hear what you say about Hungary pre 1989 Tom. I think in the West we thought of all the Communist states as weird repressive places but of course that would only have been the case by degrees. And the end of the empire started when the Hungary - Austria border was dismantled

This has the feel of timelessness, Tom. I bet you have a lot to tell us about that experience.

Now the guy in the coat looks like my idea of how the secret police would look smile A trip to the Bolshoi must have been fabulous.

This looks a happy enough scene Tom in what looks like a beautiful city. I envy your travels.
There are worse things than having to see La Boheme twice in a week. Imagine having to endure Les Miserables ....
Your colours seem to have changed like my old slides have. Such a shame.
An interesting shot Tom, so, have I got this right, you caused the collapse of Communism? smile
A delightful image Tom

This is a really nice scene Tom, you are so lucky to have seen so much when you were there. I saw a holiday being advertised of a train journey in Russia which sounded really tempting. One day maybe smile
you travelled a lot in your life I see
Lovely old buildings and I like all the cobbles.
A beautiful image Tom!
