photoblog image Leonardo's 'Lady with an Ermine'.

Leonardo's 'Lady with an Ermine'.

The prize possession of the National Museum in Krakow.  It is normally housed in a branch of the museum in the Old Town, but that building is undergoing restoration and will re-open, I think, some time in 2019.

Oh, I saw this wonderful painting in London/Museum at the Trafalgar Square in the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition some years ago.
Tom Wilson: I rarely get to London these days, so I was happy to see it in Krakow.

He face is that of a young girl
Tom Wilson: She was a young girl, the mistress of Leonardo's employer, Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan - she was only 16 or 17 when she met Sforza.

Had to go look up, what an ermine is. One of the names for a stoat. Quite a painting.
Tom Wilson: One of Leonardo's masterworks - read all about it in Wikipedia.
It's wonderful that such paintings get to be spread out around the world, Tom!
Tom Wilson: Indeed it is, Ginnie.
You've presented this masterpiece beautifully, Tom.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Beverly
In Chris Phillips's house the prize painting is "Tiff With Rat" painted by his neighbour Len Doola
Tom Wilson: I'm sure it is a masterpiece - I can't understand why we haven't seen it on SC!
Leonardo's perfection. I cannot imagine someone petting an ermine in real life
