Lansdown Cemetery-Beckford's Memorial

Beckford is buried close to his tower - he died in 1844 at the age of 84.  His tomb carries a quotation from one of his works: "Eternal Power! Grant me through obvious clouds one transient gleam Of thy bright essence in my dying hour!"
