West Edmonton Mall-5

Last one from the Mall - the aquarium.

"Pterois is a genus of venomous marine fish, commonly known as lionfish, native to the Indo-Pacific. Also called zebrafish, firefish, turkeyfish, tastyfish or butterfly-cod, it is characterized by conspicuous warning coloration with red, white, creamy, or black bands, showy pectoral fins, and venomous spiky fin rays."

Joli poisson, j'en ai déjà vus dans des aquariums.
Tom Wilson: Oui, assez fantastique! L'aquarium le plus étonnant que j'ai vu est celui de Lisbonne - merveilleux!
Thats a beauty Tom. Well caught ! ( No pun intended smile )
Tom Wilson: Thanks Frank, it's always difficult to get a decent shot in these circumstances, I've found.

A truly exotic thing Tom
Tom Wilson: Not your typical English fresh water beastie I would think!
Those fish are poisonous aren't they?
Tom Wilson: I wouldn't be surprised, Bill.

We know this as a devil fish and it is poisonous. I am aware that in other parts of the world, other fish are known as devil fish.
Tom Wilson: Not a variety I'm familiar with - if I can't pan-fry it, it might as well not exist smile
What a fantastic fish, I think Bill is right about them being poisonous.
Tom Wilson: So Louis tells us - not one to tangle with, then smile
I think it's a lion fish, Tom and they are certainly poisonous!
Tom Wilson: "Lion fish", "devil fish" - seems to have a variety of names!
I think we call them clown fish? Pretty to see in an aquarium.
Tom Wilson: Well that's the third suggested name for them! Wikipedia comes to the rescue:

"Pterois is a genus of venomous marine fish, commonly known as lionfish, native to the Indo-Pacific. Also called zebrafish, firefish, turkeyfish, tastyfish or butterfly-cod, it is characterized by conspicuous warning coloration with red, white, creamy, or black bands, showy pectoral fins, and venomous spiky fin rays"
