Too many males, cull 'em!
Tom Wilson: 32 of 'em - you are probably right!
I never knew that was the collective noun
Tom Wilson: I have a handy little dictionary of collective nouns: A crash of rhinoceroses, by Rex Collings - some copies on Abebooks - https://bit.ly/3iNNwcr - and another one here: https://bit.ly/2AJiukG
It's a fun little book, from which I find that a collection of coots can be a covert, a rasp, or a shoal!

Like peanuts in a pack.
Tom Wilson: They are rather!
In modern parlance this would be a 'bubble' of Mallards!
Tom Wilson: They are certainly not self-isolating!
Super shot of them Tom, Sorde ? Who knew ! That book sounds fun.
Tom Wilson: A nice little book - not just definitions but quotations etc.
HA! The education we get on SC. It's fun, Tom, isn't it! smile
Tom Wilson: We learn something new every day smile
I like the collective noun, Tom! These are some really interesting words!
I'm assuming some bread was involved here smile
Tom Wilson: I think it was hope plus a little bread smile
that's a lot of ducks Tom... was someone feeding them from shore... great patterns in the water from all of that action....petersmile
Tom Wilson: Yes, someone was throwing out food for them.
I agree with Chris. I feel sorry for the females.
Tom Wilson: Not to worry - there were more females on the other side of the bridge smile

The male mallards might be more beautiful than the females. Quite a colony!
Tom Wilson: Male birds are usually more showy than the females - after all, its the females who get to choose their mates, not the other way round smile
More like a horde of mallards ...
Tom Wilson: smile
