What a beautiful reading room, Tom!
Tom Wilson: Not used much as such - books are taken toe the Professors' Reading Room if they want to work with them - this is just used for casual enquiries.
What great and authentic to see
Tom Wilson: It is rather fine, isn't it?

I think I would prefer to flick through National Geographic back issues here, Tom.
Tom Wilson: I doubt if you'll find them here, Ray smile

Wonderful- but where are the readers? Vilnius was once the 'Jerusalem of the North'- I assume there are many rare, old Jewish books, too.
Tom Wilson: For serious research, the books are taken to the Professors' Reading Room - this would only be used for an occasional check on an item. Many of the finest books were taken by the Russians, but a rather clever university librarian managed to get many of them back.
Looks to be a lovely room with good light. I attended a rare books and manuscripts exhibition in Canberra. What a thrill to see some of these items.
Tom Wilson: They have a very fine collection, as you can imagine, Mary. I think the university was founded in something like 1545 smile
What a wonderful place to spend some time reading!
Tom Wilson: Simply perusing the treasures on display is great, Richard.
What a wonderful place to read!
Tom Wilson: No disturbance here from mobile phones smile
It is splendid isn't it
Tom Wilson: It is rather!
Wow, someplace, Tom.
Tom Wilson: Only one of a number of very fine rooms in the library, Frank.
This puts my local library to shame in its lovely design, ours is bog 1970's standard!
Tom Wilson: I think it would put just about anyone's to shame, Brian smile
Very imposing...
Tom Wilson: An appropriate place for the bibliographical treasures smile
