Long-eared Owl

Outside St. Mary's Church in Beverley, a falconry group had set up a stand with this long-eared owl, a gyrflacon, a barn owl and a red-tailed hawk.

They are such beautiful birds. Their ability to fly silently is amazing.
Tom Wilson: They are very handsome - I was sad to see them in captivity. I know that falconers take good care of their birds, but I couldn't feeling that they looked sad!
Ohhhh... he's a beauty.
Tom Wilson: Absolutely!

Did you make a purchase, Tom?

This one looks like just the thing for controlling your infestation of mice.
Tom Wilson: Not for sale, Ray - and Sassy keeps the mouse population down smile
What a beautiful portrait Tom!
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Richard.
I love the markings on this pretty owl. Very nice shot, Tom.
Tom Wilson: It's beautiful plumage, isn't it?
Those red eyes are mesmerizing...
Tom Wilson: Aren't they just!
Lovely looking character isn't he/she.
Tom Wilson: It is, Brian - but I wouldn't like to be on the end of that beak smile
