Lovely portrait, Tom!
Easily trained- and EVERYWHERE! Frank gives me a hard time whenever I identify a raptor as a Red Tailed Hawk... but seriously- every single time it probably is! smile
Tom Wilson: I guess that round about Flagstaff they are likely to be the most common raptor - you've got other hawks, of course - Harris's I gather is mainly in the Sonora desert and others are restricted to southern Arizona - so when you travel you've got a good deal of choice smile
This is a beauty Tom!
Tom Wilson: A very handsome hawk!

Great shot. You travel so much - do you ever work? smile

Some hawks, incl. this type are referred to as chicken hawks, labelling these birds as pests. Apparently George Bush (Dubya) is also a chicken hawk - for preying on the poor chickens (less fortunate) of his country.
Tom Wilson: This was just a couple of hours away in Beverley, Yorkshire, Louis. But - I've been retired now for 15 years smile
I knew Elizabeth would say something...smile Nice to see one up close, Tom, I do like Raptors.
Tom Wilson: Vicious-looking little beggar, ain't he? smile
You are getting some very nice shots, Tom. They are quite common here.
Tom Wilson: Could be the most common N.American hawk - I'll have to check.

Looks like a cranky old bloke, Tom!

[I am NOT suggesting it is a selfie!]
Lovely detailing of the feathers...
Another beak I wouldn't fancy coming in to contact with.
