Yorkshire Tour

The leaders.  I happened to be in Beverley on the second day of the "Tour de Yorkshire" (inspired by Yorkshire being the site of the "depart" in last year's Tour de France).  This is the leading group, which flashed by at about 30 miles an hour - they were moving so fast, I didn't get the leader!

Lovely motion blur here, Tom!
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Ray.
So cycling has become popular in the UK too Tom! I like the motion effect.
Tom Wilson: It's always been pretty popular as a participant sport, but it's growing as a spectator sport now.

And there are decorative bbikes on the walls too!
Tom Wilson: People had such painted bikes out all along the route, Chris. A decorative use for an old bike!
Yorkshire seems to have taken to bike racing big time Tom
Tom Wilson: That's certainly true, Bill - it was a very cold day and yet there were thousands out.
good timing to catch movement
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Chantal.
I love the capture of the spectators here, Tom. The buildings look like those found here.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Mary - I guess the English immigrants brought the building style across smile
I think you caught the atmosphere of the event, Tom, great that it was such a success.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Frank - considering the weather, it was a great success - and the final day must have been in pretty continuous rain!
I tried getting the Tour of Britain leaders when they came my way a few years ago, even on a road junction where I stood they were going almost too fast to capture properly.
Tom Wilson: This lot were really moving - they were come and gone in a flash!
This show wonderful motion Tom.... great capture....petersmile
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Peter.

Well, you did OK, Tom
Tom Wilson: Not bad - considering other photographers had their step ladders with them!

A fine photo of this event! I can well imagine the speed of the bikers.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Philine - they were really moving.
I was concerned that Yorkshire had been flogged off to France...hey, great idea for privatisation.
Tom Wilson: Excellent idea, Chad - I can see Wensleydale becoming the cheese sensation of Paris!

I saw the highlights on TV. Yorkshire looked wonderful and provided a great backdrop to Le Tour. I never understood why that had to use French terminology, though.
Tom Wilson: Yes - "Tour de" is a bit daft, isn't it!?
