Looks like a big, fluffy evening meal, Tom.
Tom Wilson: Yup - we've got enough of them around to make quite a few pigeon pies!

OH my! Almost looks like a carved decoy.
Tom Wilson: Curious, isn't it, that it should look fake!
He seems very focused on his foraging!
Tom Wilson: They seem to spend most of their time feeding!
I love the expression Tom!
Tom Wilson: Halfway between greed for something and panic at not getting it smile

Clever bird, there are probably rich pickings to be had
Tom Wilson: The birds do seem to spill quite a bit.
Those beady eyes need to work Tom.
Tom Wilson: I'm sure they can spot the tiniest seed, Chad.
It is very realistic. You would never guess it was made of wood Tom
Tom Wilson: Odd, isn't it that a real bird can look so fake!?
It looks like flesh and blood to me.... smile
Tom Wilson: Glad to hear it, Mary.
We have loads of them here
Tom Wilson: They're now a common urban bird in Britain - having migrated from the countryside smile

Looks a big one, like our rock pigeon. That blue eye is quite unusual.
Tom Wilson: Yes, same family - columbae - and about the same size.
That eye looks like it doesn't miss much Tom
Tom Wilson: Indeed!

How do you get the photo framed on raised 'look' with shadow...so pretty. Lightroom?
Tom Wilson: It's a trick with Elements, if you have the package, Bonnie. Load the file into Elements, resize it to fit the SC requirements (longest size 1000px), then crop the image, but pull the control "hooks" OUTSIDE the image, so that you get a border around it, then click on Layer>Layer style and then Layer settings - this brings up a pop-up window with Drop shadow as an item, click on that and adjust the light position, size and distance until the shadow is where you want it. Easy smile

Despite my best efforts to stop her when I visit my mother, she will insist on feeds these vermin. She says that they can't help being pigeons. I've said that she could help to prevent them poducing more pigeons, though.
Tom Wilson: Oh, I've got nothing against the Wood Pigeon, Alan - they don't cause as many problems as the ordinary pigeon (technically, Rock Dove) which builds nests on buildings and soils them terribly. We were invaded by them one year and had to put spikes around the house to prevent them roosting and nest-building. Wood pigeons roost and nest in the trees and don't cause the same kind of problem.

Bloody pigeons ... I hate them even more than Tom Lehrer did. (aka: poisoning pigeons in the park).

We get them at and under our bird feeders in our garden. They aren't even hassled by the mobs of Jackdaws that steam in from time to time.
Tom Wilson: Not the same pigeon, Richard - Lehrer's song was about the Rock Dove than is a pest in our towns, the Wood Pigeon is a much nicer bird both in behaviour and taste smile
well fed specimen here, Tom
Tom Wilson: They tend to be, Ayush - that's why they are caught and roasted smile
We have a resident pair of these in our garden, they pinch all the food so the little birds get very little at all.
Tom Wilson: These can't get at the food in the feeder - only what drops on the ground smile
A likable bird...
