photoblog image Letterkenny Cathedral

Letterkenny Cathedral

This is the result of the new Lightroom 6 HDR feature, from three shots.  I needed something like this because (as the flares might suggest) the sun was in the wrong place in the sky for a decent shot of the facade.  Having this feature as part of Lightroom is very convenient - no need to launch separate software.

Seems to have worked well, Tom, I just can't get to grips with Lightroom...:-(
Tom Wilson: That's strange, Frank - so much easier than Photoshop. Some good video courses here - https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/tutorials.html - and here - http://www.shutha.org/node/716

This is all too much for me, Tom, but the picture has turned out well
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Lisl - it's easy with Lightroom.

Technically it's very good Tom
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Chris.
Quite effective Tom, the result is good!
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Richard.
I could use that feature sometimes.
Tom Wilson: It seems to be just as good as some of the standalone hdr programs - and if your camera takes bracketed shots automatically the images are usually easily lined up.

The flying buttresses are lovely things, Tom.
Tom Wilson: They are very elegant, aren't they?
A fine facade it is too Tom. Your lightroom feature has worked well
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Janet
I have used it and the version in Photoshop. I still like Photomatix pro best though
Tom Wilson: I have Photomatix too, but I've never had good results with it for some reason.
Very accomplished under the circumstances Tom. You seem to go to all the places that I like myself.
Tom Wilson: Well - you've been to a number I haven't seen, Chad, and I'm looking forward to the pics from Greenland smile
It's worked well Tom. I'm still on version 4, can't make up my mind as to whether to upgrade to 6 or not. Several of my fellow camera club members have done so and I will chat to them about 6 when we restart in September and then decide.
Tom Wilson: I understand that version 6 will be the last stand-alone version - after this, if you want the improvements it will be through subscription to the online version. I think you'd find some of the changes since version 4 very useful - including this one.
