It seems the High Sheriff might have had his hands in the tax till, Tom!
Tom Wilson: Well, he was, in effect the equivalent of the Chief of Police of the county, so no doubt he got a little from fines and confiscated property - but it was a Royal appointment and he'd have to be pretty rich to begin with smile

Grand but not over extravagant isn't it.
Tom Wilson: Not wildly extravagant!
What a beautiful and a grand place Tom!
Tom Wilson: Very handsome, isn't it?
I wonder why a person would want a house that large.
Tom Wilson: Landed gentry - entertaining official visitors - a whole floor of bedrooms for staff, perhaps he had his offices here too and, of course, a need to show that he was somebody smile
Very impressive Tom. He really extended himself didn't he
Tom Wilson: He certainly didn't stint himself, but, on the other hand, there were others with far more!
A fine house, on our list of places to visit next time we go to North Wales.
Tom Wilson: Definitely worth it, Brian.
We went here a couple of years ago and were a bit disappointed. Partly because the people there weren't all that friendly which is unusual at an NT property
Tom Wilson: That's a pity, Bill - we had no problem with the staff at all - perhaps there've been some changes made smile
handsome facade
