Who loves e-books...

...and who reads them.  The theme of our seminar at the Gothenburg Book Fair.  I don't know who the guy was introducing the event, but on the back wall are Elena, Lars, Tom and standing, Birgitta, the latter about to deliver part 1.  Picture by our PhD student, another Birgitta, using my Fuji X-E1

it's nice to see you Tom... since you are holding papers in your hand... it's my guess that you are pro printed books... good for you....petersmile
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Peter - I did part 2 of the presentation, Elena and Lars took the question time.
Nice seeing you getting ready to perform Tom!
Tom Wilson: It was an unusual setting for a lecture!
Very nice! You look most professional!
Tom Wilson: Oh, we're always professional, Elizabeth! smile

When would e-books be handy? On public transport (if you can get a seat) or perhaps on holiday. Personally I'll be happy to keep the real thing instead
Tom Wilson: I now rarely carry physical books when I travel, Chris - it is so much easier than lugging paper around smile At home, I switch mainly to paper, but will happily fit in an e-book.

I can even translate (but not pronounce) the Swedish words - I appreciate the e-books, but I prefer the printed book in my personal life. I assume that you are speaking fluently Swedish.
Tom Wilson: Sadly, my Swedish is extremely fragmentary! Just like my other languages - I speak what I call "restaurant" languages - restaurant French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, German - and Swedish smile
I read both but the e-books not as often.
Tom Wilson: It's a matter of convenience when travelling for me, Mary - that, and ready accessibility.
I hope you were firmly on the side of traditional paper books Tom.
Tom Wilson: I'm agnostic on the matter, Brian - I read e-books when I'm travelling because an iPad takes up little space and weight, compared with, say half a dozen paperbacks that I would need to get me through a trip smile
