photoblog image Sad story from a country graveyard.

Sad story from a country graveyard.

The verse reads:

Afflictions sore long time I bore

Physicians were in vain

God thought it best that I should rest

And eased me of my pain.

Thomas Richmond died aged 31.

Missed a great opportunity to immortalise himself with a limerick starting something like:

"The boy stood on the burning deck
His pocket full of crackers
..."
Quite moving Tom!

Poor man
So poetic Tom, but poor old Thomas must have really suffered during his 31 years
They were very philosophical about death in the 19th century
sad story indeed. i like the ornate head stone
Indeed a very touching verse.
