A visit to Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia - 6/10

Painting from the Colonial era of a Lady with a dog. In the The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum.

Cataract op on my left eye today - may not be doing much screen work!

I like the painting, Tom.

I wonder if your pic quality will improve following this op... smile
Tom Wilson: We can but hope, Ray smile

Good luck with your operation and we will see you back soon. The painting suits the Colonial era... The lace is very well painted.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Astrid - yes, this was a much more sophisticated painting than many from the colonial period.

It's a charming picture, Tom. I wish you well with today's op
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Lisl - yes, I thought so too.
I quite like this painting Tom!
Tom Wilson: Very appealing, isn't it?

Interesting - a modern-ish face Tom
Tom Wilson: That's what attracted me to it, Chris - she could be a 21st century young lady.
I sense that this might be painted on wood panel Tom.
Tom Wilson: You could be right, Chad - that was fairly common in the colonial era, I understand - more readily available than artists' canvas I guess.

My mum is going in today, too, for a cataract op. I hope your's goes well. I like the intricate painting with the lacework.
Tom Wilson: All the best people are doing it smile I see that Brian's is due on 21st - as an optician once told me, "Everyone gets cataracts if they live long enough" smile
A fine painting, hope the op goes well
Tom Wilson: The op didn't go, Martin - the surgeon was not available. Back on the waiting list!
I like this painting. Her expression is so mysterious. Best of luck with the surgery.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Mary - the op didn't happen. Surgeon not available, so back on the waiting list!
A fine portrait isn't it. Hope all has gone well today Tom, I'm slowly building myself up for my turn next Thursday!
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Brian. You'll find it very straightforward and painless. I'm back on the waiting list, as the surgeon was not available.
You have another eye...so no excuse
Tom Wilson: True - I still have both. The op didn't happen. Surgeon not available, so back on the waiting list!
