UN Mural

Converted slide from my first visit to the USA in 1963.  This is a mural in the staff room of the Dag Hammarsjköld Library of the United Nations building in New York.  The mural was by the Swedish artist Bo Beskow and called "Composition for a concave wall".

This mural could have been designed these days Tom!
Tom Wilson: Indeed - they are all pretty well indistinguishable!

I'm not sure I could live with so vivid a wall Tom
Tom Wilson: Actually, I think it is a bit more vivid that the pic shows, the colours have been leached out over time.
I'm sure he wasn't influenced by Picasso at all Tom.
Tom Wilson: Hardly at all, Chad smile
This must have been a restful place, Tom...NOT.
Tom Wilson: I guess not bad as long as you sit with your back to it!
I have been outside the building but not inside. A million women met here for a march.
Tom Wilson: We had a guided tour of the building and the library - this room is now converted to some other purpose "for security reasons"!
Nothing wrong with your image Tom but the mural doesn't do anything for me at all.
Tom Wilson: Not particularly attractive, is it?
Not very restful more like unsettling, especially for a library.
Tom Wilson: As this was in the staff room, I guess most people sat with their backs to it smile
A good find.

Hmmmmm...I think I would have preferred a young graffiti artist's work, Tom.
