photoblog image NSdePiedade.jpg

NSdePiedade.jpg

This is just the straight conversion, with no processing at all - just the dust cleaned off it.  I left it like this because I thought it looked something like an aged 16th century painting :-)  My note on the slide says that it is the Igreja de Nossa Senhora de Piedade, but doesn't say where.  It must have been close to Belo Horizonte, but the only one that I can find that looks like it has a slightly different facade (which, of course, could have been done since 1979!), that is the Santuario de NS de Piedade on the Serra de Piedade.

You did well to leave it as is Tom! The result is great.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Richard - I thought it looked interesting!

It has a photographic patina of age that suits it Tom
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Chris.
It definitely retains that old-age feel to it, Tom.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Ginnie.
I like it too Tom. I just had to search for it and found it here https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Igreja+de+Nossa+Senhora+de+Piedad&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari#hl=en-gb&q=Igreja+de+Nossa+Senhora+de+Piedade&imgrc=VNJZxdBoDYvR9M%3A
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Chad - yes, that's the one I found, too. If it is the same place they've added fake pillars on either side of the door and put decorative pinnacles on the roofs of the little towers - I guess that could all have happened in the past 30-odd years! If so, this image is a historical document!!
It looks good as the colour is true, the blue sky.
Tom Wilson: Yes, I was quite surprised that the blue had survived!

Quite a picture that the ageing provided. Not good storage wise, naturally.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Louis.
It has aged well Tom
Tom Wilson: Interestingly, I thought smile
How strange to have such a large undecorated area of wall.
Tom Wilson: Yes, if you follow the link in Chad's comment, you'll see that a pair of false pillars has been added since 1979.
the unprocessed picture of this church is wonderful Tom...
i am enjoying your 1970's series very much....petersmile

It seems to be a statement about orifices, Tom...
