Goodbye to Sassy

We had to say goodbye to Sassy yesterday - he had deteriorated very quickly over the past few weeks, possibly as a result of a cancerous growth in the lungs, although the cause is not yet known.  He'd lost weight, had breathing problems and wasn't eating, so the kindest thing to do was to let him go. A hard decision, since he'd been part of our lives for just short of 17 years.

Definitely the kindest thing to do Tom. But it's always a wrench..

I am sure he had a very good life with you - a hard decsion indeed, but it had to be done - I can imagine your sadness. He looks very peaceful.
Tom Wilson: Yes, indeed - thank you, Philine
Very sad but it is the kindest thing to do. 17 is a good age. We have got used now to not having a cat but it does seem strange for a while
Tom Wilson: I don't imagine we'll be without one for long - I can't imagine the house without a cat.

It was the right thing to do, Tom. Once their quality of life has gone, its the kind thing to do. Never easy, though sad
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Alan.
Awe - I'm so sorry, Tom... Always so hard to lose them - but they rely on us to help them, and it's the most loving decision you can make. I know you'll miss him...
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Elizabeth - I know you've experienced this yourself. The sun is shining, but it's a dark day :-(
