Chester-Roman Gardens

The gardens lie beside the city walls and were designed in 1949 as a display area for fragments unearthed in archaeological digs in the Roman city.

For those who enjoyed Fafa de Belem, here's something from an earlier time.

Jolis vestiges du passé.
Tom Wilson: Merci, Martine
I like that the gardens were designed to show off the ruins.
Thank you for the music!
Tom Wilson: Yes, it makes for an interesting display - it's also next to the Roman amphitheatre, of which there is not much left smile

I brilliant thing to do, to incorporate these old pieces of Roman Chester into a public park
Tom Wilson: Yes, very good town planning - of course, done at a time when that was the vogue, after WWII - now it would probably be paved and have a supermarket on it!

Lovely to be able to sit amongst Roman ruins. Nice to hear another song from Fafa.
Tom Wilson: A pleasant spot altogether.
That looks an interesting garden Tom.
Tom Wilson: A very pleasant place to spend a while.
I do like parks that have stones. This is lovely as is the music.
Tom Wilson: You'd certainly enjoy this one, Mary.

I especially like the old relics sat on the benches. Its good that people get the chance to sit and think of the history around them.
