the passenger coach looks refurbished, Tom. overall, a handsome ride.
Tom Wilson: Yes, the coaches are new, Ayush - the Snowdon Mountain Railway site has information on the engines and carriages.
A smart little train Tom.
Tom Wilson: Does the job, Frank ;-)

A diesel shunter?
Tom Wilson: Specially designed for the job, Ray - as you see, it is a rack and pinion railway - the only one of its kind in Britain.

It all looks very tidy.
Tom Wilson: Everything seems to be very well maintained, Chad.

I aught to take this ride one day. I remember steam power on this line..
Tom Wilson: Definitely worth it, Chris - and the steam trains still run - but not on the 9 a.m. run.

That looks like a powerful locomotive, Tom, strong enough to pull the train. I see they have a middle rail for the grip, going up and down.
Tom Wilson: Yes, in fact the engine is not coupled to the carriage - as you can probably tell, the rails slope down, even at the station and gravity would pull the carriage down, if it were not for the engine, which is there to stop the carriage running away smile On the journey up it simply pushes the carriage - the rail in the middle is the feature of a rack and pinion railway.
This was your transport? What a cute little thing. Hard to call it a train as the mechanisms are different.
Tom Wilson: Yes, indeed - this is the Snowdon Mountain Railway smile
A fine shot Tom, the station looks to be a fairly new building.
Tom Wilson: I think it's been there some years, Brian - it doesn't look all that new when you get inside.
Brings a lot of happiness to the travellers, Tom smile
Tom Wilson: Of course, when I got up there, the cafe was closed smile
