A separate bell-tower is very common in the Baltic states and Scandinavia.

This is a most unusual, and attractive, bell tower, Tom.
Tom Wilson: Those I've seen in Sweden and Lithuania - and one or two in Latvia, are all different.
Like a giant cake Tom. A nice building.
Tom Wilson: It is rather!
Frank beat me to it... it does look like a big cake!
Tom Wilson: It does indeed.

I have seen only a couple of examples of this in the UK Tom
Tom Wilson: I don't think I've seen a single example of a separate bell tower.
Another leaning tower, Tom??? smile
Tom Wilson: Camera distortion smile

There is a strange sunken feel to this heavy looking tower.
Tom Wilson: Yes, I suspect that it has sunk a little over the centuries.

The bell-ringer/s have to scuttle between buildings when it is raining then
Tom Wilson: They probably just hang about and smoke a ciggy smile
A rarity in the UK...this reminds me of a giant wedding cake!
Tom Wilson: You, Frank and Elizabeth have the same idea!

It looks like one of the toys of our granddaughter, Tom. Those cubes you have to make in one stack.
Tom Wilson: I guess, these days, it could actually consist of pre-fabricated box units smile
That is unusual, Tom.........a fine tower smile
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Martin.
What a fine tower. The bells at East Bergholt in Suffolk are in the churchyard but not in a tower.
Tom Wilson: I've seen separate bells in Sweden too.
Quel surprise!!
Tom Wilson: Actually quite common in Lithuania.
