Quite impressive, but it does not look Roman, Tom?
Tom Wilson: No - this isn't the Roman baths, but the Abbey, which dates mostly from the 12th and 16th centuries.
Intricate detail Tom.
Tom Wilson: Fine stonework.
Didn't need your fish eye for this one! smile The carving is amazing!
Tom Wilson: Nope, just the basic 18-55mm smile

I have not looked up enough in my life Tom..
Tom Wilson: I follow a couple of rules for pics, Chris - always look up, and always look behind you smile
Bath Abbey has to go on my list of places to visit!
Tom Wilson: Definitely worth it, Bill - keep an eye on the Website and wait until they have finished redoing the floor.

You certainly gave this place a thorough inspection Tom.
Tom Wilson: I'm sure I missed some goodies smile
A shield usually represents something. I wonder what here.
Tom Wilson: I assume, Care, that, with the bishop's mitre and staff above, they must be the arms of his family. The birds, apparently, are part of the arms of the Montagu family, so it may have been an offshoot of the family.
