Rhododendrons in the Gardens

A little way to the South from the fountain is an area with rhododendrons and azaleas, nicely in bloom when these pics were taken.

Oh...very pretty.
Tom Wilson: They seem to do as well as they do in their original place, the Himalayas smile
Lovely blooms Tom.
Tom Wilson: Lots of 'em about now - I have about four in the garden and three or four azaleas just coming into bloom.
So pretty and sunny!
Tom Wilson: It was a lovely day for the tour.

Gorgeous aren't they Tom
Tom Wilson: They are indeed - not a match on The Hirsel on the Northumberland/Scotland border - home of Sir Alec Douglas-Home - there they are in woodland, and look wonderful. We (i.e., the Northumberland and Durham Natl. Hist. Soc.) were shown round by his brother - who took frequent nips from his hip flask and was pretty blotto by the end; but he certainly knew his stuff!
They are glorious flowers. Our small Rhododendron has burst forth into flower for the first time this year and is goergeous
Tom Wilson: They do light up the garden, don't they?

What a joy they are.
Tom Wilson: They are indeed - they shout "Summer is coming!"
Such beautiful flowers!
Tom Wilson: A wide range of colours, too.
Always a magnificent show aren't they.
Tom Wilson: They are indeed, Brian.
