photoblog image Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Ó

Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Ó

"The church of Nossa Senhora do Ó, also called the Chapel of Nossa Senhora do Ó and Chapel of Ó, is a Catholic building built at the start of the 18th century in the Brazilian city of Sabará, in the state of Minas Gerais. One of the oldest churches in the state, it has a small and simple structure, but a richly decorated interior, which has attracted the attention of important art historians, being considered one of the most precious monuments of the Brazilian baroque." (Translated, roughly, from the Portuguese Wikipedia - which has pictures of the interior)

Quite distinctive then Tom
Tom Wilson: Yes, a pity I didn't get any interior shots worth showing.
Looks like a picture from an old book Tom
Tom Wilson: The assortment of people around seem to emphasise that, Bill.

Same picture than on 11 March 2016, but a different conversion. A name like Nossa Senhora do Ó can hardly be forgotten. I think I like this conversion, somewhat more. Just a feeling.
Tom Wilson: Ooops! I thought I'd done it before but couldn't locate it!

One would never guess that this rather plain exterior could House such a rich interior.
Tom Wilson: Yes, quite astonishing.
Love the old-timey look of this snap.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Care.
Another good scan, I like the little bell tower.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Brian.
I like your old looking photo, Tom, it adds a nice quality. Looking at the link the interior is a sight to see! smile
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Martin - it seems that I didn't get a good enough pic of the interior.
Simple but effective styling Tom.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Frank.
