it amazes me that a city is built so close to the water

i can't fathom the technical aspects of the building process

however, it's absolutely beautiful
Tom Wilson: The Dutch have a long history of coping with the water - a great deal of what is now the Netherlands was below sea level, until the dykes were built and the land was gradually recovered and developed. Venice is much more at risk than any Dutch city ;-)

Jolie vue avec l'église dans le fond.

You have included a very larch church or cathedral and a fine swing bridge too Tom
Tom Wilson: So many churches in Leiden, it would be difficult to leave one out!
This looks a fine place for a stroll Tom
Tom Wilson: A very walkable city, Bill - flat, of course!
Good decision to convert...
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Larry - I thought it would work.

Leiden is a lovely town - a fine perspective with the Lodewijkkerk - St. Ludwig sounds too German. I like the b&w treatment.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Philine. As you say, a lovely town - one I'd be happy to return to.
That looks to be a very fine church Tom.
Tom Wilson: Indeed it is, Brian - one of a number of fine churches in Leiden.
Nice compo and framing.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Mary.

Looks to be a fine place for a stroll and full of interest.
Tom Wilson: Indeed it is - a very interesting place, full of history, and I hadn't realised that the Rhine runs through it!
This is a really lovely image, Tom!
