An old-fashioned mangle, somewhat heavier than the one my mother used, along with what we called a "poss tub" and the associated "poss stick". My mother only got a washing machine when she moved from our old railwayman's cottage into pensioner's bungalow. First use of poss tub, according to the OED, is "J. T. Brockett Gloss. North Country Words (new ed.) 166 Poss, to dash clothes violently in water. ‘To poss clothes’—‘A poss tub’."
The big stage productions of fado, like the last one, are not typical fado sessions. Fado is a music of the cafes and restaurants, and this video shows the typical set-up: the singer, the Portuguese guitar (guitarra) and the Spanish guitar - called the "viola" in Portugal, live in a small cafe.
