Zadar-passenger ferry.jpg

This was part accident, part deliberate.  I clicked on Auto (for exposure) in Lightroom, and the picture darkened considerably, except for the boat - that was the accident!  I then used the colour popping feature of Elements to retain the white of the boat and grey-scale everything else.

There's no connection between the picture and the song. I've loved the work of Fafa de Belem from when I visited Brazil for the first time more than 30 years ago.  She is now 62 and I think this dates from two or three years ago.

She looks very sleak and competent, Tom...nice capture.
Tom Wilson: The passenger ferry, Ray - very efficient.

Love the music clip.
Tom Wilson: There's a bit more of her on Youtube - look for the earliest - this one for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g9_H9Xq9-U
She was a really stunning woman then - and she's still got the voice!

A technique you could use for building perhaps too?
Tom Wilson: Yes, I guess one could use for anything one wanted to isolate clearly from the background.
Photographic "accidents" often end up being the best images ever, Tom. YAY. And yes, I can see why you love the work of Fafa de Belem!
Tom Wilson: She was quite a singer - and still has an amazing voice.

Beautiful music with a beautiful picture. Leave it to the "accidents" Tom.
Tom Wilson: Well, there are "happy accidents" - but not always smile

Attractive effect on the photograph. Very nice song from a performer that I do not know. She has an earthy voice, which is attractive. Shades of Italian music in the melody.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Chad. I fell in love with Brazilian music on that first visit - there's such life in it.
I noticed the white boat thumbnail when I opened the photos today. It is very strangely effective. The music is very nice.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Mary - glad you enjoyed Fafa smile
I like the way you've got the boat looking like that. The song and singer are very nice to listen to, I'm having a problem once again getting videos into the 'Notes' area other than going through an Embeding procedure.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Brian. I think using the embed procedure is probably the only way.

Shucks, that boat contrasts very well in this picture.
Tom Wilson: A "happy accident", then smile

It looks as though the boat is about to head off into very stormy weather.
Tom Wilson: It does rather!
Your efforts resulted in a cracking shot.

Yes she has a fine voice. Unknown to me
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Bill
I guess Fafa is unknown outside of the Portuguese speaking world.
By default or design, it makes a great image Tom! smile
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Martin - I was rather pleased with the accidental outcome!

It sure worked! The boat really stands out...I like the motion in the photo.
Tom Wilson: Thanks, Bonnie
